During the 20th century, science has been transformed once again, so that the gap separating astrology from mainstream science has narrowed. British astrological writer Dennis Elwell states that astrology is concerned with "the seamless wholeness of the universe". American astrologer Caroline Casey states that, "there is a harmony and correlation that runs through all creation." Physicist Albert Einstein believed in a similar unity. He sought to discover an explanation as to how the universe works as a unified system. His general Theory of Relativity and Theory of Quantum Mechanics provide a partial explanation, but the search goes on. British physicist Stephen Hawking continues to seek what he calls "a complete unified theory that will describe everything in the universe." Astrologers contend that the eventual discovery of a "unified field theory" would be a clear vindication for astrology. One consistent set of principles that would account for the behavior of planets and of the most minute particles would be "a seamless universe".
